AS Roma midfielder Houssem Aouar has officially joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad for a reported fee of €12 million plus bonuses. The move

represents a huge profit for the Serie A club after the player joined the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer last summer when his contract with Lyon expired.

Aouar scored four goals in 25 appearances for the Giallorossi, but he failed to establish himself as a regular under either Jose Mourinho or Daniele De Rossi.

“Welcome Aouar,” Al-Ittihad announced on the X platform after signing Aouar on a four-year deal, where he will link up with the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho at Al-Ittihad.

After being pursued for two summers by the Giallorossi, Aouar arrived with high hopes. However, his season in Rome ended up being mostly a disappointment as he collected four goals in 25 appearances in all competitions and never really established an important role in the side.
